The Prime Directive is a sound collage compiled from various sleep aids native to YouTube.

Many YouTube channels are dedicated to uploading longform drones to help people with tinnitus, anxiety and/or insomnia. These recordings can vary from idling engine noises and shopping centre muzak to pop songs slowed down by 800%.

Often looped for up to twelve hours, and sampled from films, tv shows and other pop culture sources, these found sounds are analogous to videos published by the ASMR community.
